False Gribin
This little known scramble ascends from the SW corner of Llyn Bochlwyd to join Y Gribin below its scrambly section.
It is an enjoyable route but the rock is vegetated in places and stays wet after rain so be cautious after a rainy spell. Take the path from Ogwen Cottage up to Llyn Bochlwyd and walk round the west side of the lake.
Start upwards, firstly on boggy ground with a few small rock buttresses to overcome but becoming more rocky further up. The last section (and where the best scrambling is) is a steep ridge/buttress with a choice of line. Try to stick to the rock, avoiding any slippery grass and heather. The scramble ends at the grassy section below Y Gribin's rocky crest. It should take no more than 1hr to reach this point from Llyn Bochlwyd.
The obvious way to continue is to scramble up Y Gribin (grade 1) onto the Glyders. Note that this route can be descended also (with a slight increase in difficulty).
